The Bennington Recreation Department will host its first summer bicycle trip and a road repair focused workshop. The overnight ride goes to Emerald Lake State Park on June 25–26, starting at 8 am from the Recreation Center. Bennington Enlists Cadet Guilmette for West Point Prep
Daniel Guilmette son of Mr and Mrs Leo Guilmette of Chapel Road Bennington enlisted in December 1975 for the Lateral Entry in automatic data processing. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and later served as Sp 5 with the 24th Infantry Division Fort Stewart Georgia before admission to Fort Monmouth New Jersey’s Military Academy Preparatory School. After completing the 10 month program he earned an appointment to West Point New York and is home on leave before ten days of pre cadet training prior to July 6 at West Point. A public card party is planned for Friday June 17 at 8 PM with prizes for last week winners and a Sunday social at 1 30 PM on June 19.

Navy widow sues eight firms over microwave cancer deaths
Louise Cadieux, widow of a Quonset Point technician, sues eight electronics firms for 4.5 million claiming microwave exposure caused her husband Donald Cadieux to die of pancreatic cancer at 31 after working at Quonset from 1965 to 1974. The suit names Raytheon and others, follows an identical Hartford filing, and cites potential Navy microwave hazards amid calls for study.

The Plain Dirt Gardeners presented the June Flower Show "Yesterday and Today" in St. Peter's parish hall with the annual meeting and luncheon. Mr and Mrs Harry Eddington of Jefferson Heights were guests of honor at a Bernardston family dinner on June 4 in observance of their approaching 25th wedding anniversary. Their daughter Nancy pinned corsage and son Stephen gave a money tree. A two tier cake, memory album, and needlepoint home design were presented by relatives.
