Kansas City Seeks to Shed Cow Town Image During GOP Convention
Kansas City prepares for the 1976 Republican National Convention with Kemper Arena at its heart. The city envisions major economic boosts from delegates, media, and visitors, planning expanded hotel space, transit, lighting, and security while projecting long term prestige for future conventions. Local officials hope the event will unlock growth and place Kansas City among the top 10 US convention cities by 1981.
