Manchester Historic Restorations Benefit From Federal Grant
Vermont awarded 1.2 million dollars in federal matching funds for historic preservation and job creation. In Manchester two projects show the impact: the Old Tavern revived with restoration of plaster and woodwork and planned apartments shop and restaurant, and the nearby grist mill being stripped to its frame for conversion into apartments and offices. Grants of 10 000 and 12 000 aided initial work as community effort drives the revival of these landmarks.
