Industry honors Vernon for its pioneer role in nuclear power
Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corp. was named in the Edison Award list for pioneering regional nuclear power. The Vernon plant, despite delays and safety questions, was praised for reliability and for developing a skilled team of engineers. Other honorees included Yankee Atomic Electric, Connecticut Yankee, and Maine Yankee. Also noted was California voters rejection of Prop 15 which would have imposed stricter reactor rules. A Texas extension service specialist says a laying hen should produce 240 eggs in its first year with about four pounds of feed per dozen eggs.
