Nixon May Be Named Watergate Conspirator

In Washington Judge Sirica lifted a secrecy order and said a list naming Nixon as an unindicted Watergate conspirator could be public if the Supreme Court acts. The court had not yet received formal word. The disclosure follows sealed transcripts and briefs about executive privilege and the Watergate probe.

Sirica Orders Another White House Tape Release

U.S. District Judge John J. Sirica said he will order another White House tape turned over to the Watergate grand jury. He delayed signing to allow James D. St. Clair to consult Nixon and said a Monday response is possible. Sirica noted the tape now appears highly relevant to Watergate in the broader sense and that he cannot deliver it to the House Judiciary Committee, which must seek a subpoena and appeal higher courts.
