Weekend toll is four in Vermont
Two per sons died in Vermont traffic accidents this long Memorial Day weekend, another drowned and a fourth was killed when his hang-glider crashed. Ronald Johnson, 10, of Cheshire, Conn. drowned while fishing in the West River in Townshend. Divers recovered the body after the U S Army Corps of Engineers lowered water level by closing a flood control dam. John Stevens, 21, of Colchester, was killed in a hang-gliding accident at the Star Ski Run in Stowe. Edward Bailey Jr., 34, of North Concord, died in a head on collision there Friday night, and Nancy Clifford, 19, of Rutland, was killed early Saturday when the car she rode in rolled over in Shrewsbury.

Two bombs struck the U S Army V Corps complex in Frankfurt injuring at least 14 people. One blast hit the officers club, the other the main building, with four hospitalized and one seriously hurt. A suspect was arrested and police hunted for another. May 1, 1972, violence at the same site recalled by officials.

A new granite marker listing 45 Medal of Honor recipients is unveiled at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. Gov. Salmon, Sen. Stafford, Rep. Jeffords, and other officials attend the bicentennial dedication amid patriotic remarks, with veterans and guests from Vermont and beyond. The ceremony features Gen. Cram, a Burlington Army band, and a color guard from Rutland Post 31.

IRA threatens Irish as new law takes effect
The IRA warns judges and police who travel to Northern Ireland to enforce the new Criminal Law Jurisdiction Act may be treated as Crown Forces.
