Ranger 7 Sees Moon Landing Region Before Destruction
Ranger 7 filmed 4000 pictures of the lunar surface before crashing on the Sea of Clouds during a high precision flight from Cape Kennedy. JPL scientists called the mission a huge success and said data will be released after tape and film processing, aiding the Apollo program and future manned lunar landings. Ranger 6 had a similar bullseye target earlier this year but failed to operate its cameras.

Board weighs voter tied site choice for new union high school
Mt. Anthony Union School Board debated two plans to break a deadlock over where to build the proposed union high school. One option would attach site choice to a bond vote, choosing Town Farm or Soldiers' Home or rejecting the school. A second option would hold a preliminary site referendum with the bond issue voted later. The two main sites are Town Farm between Willow Road and East Road, and the Soldiers' Home tract east of Park Street Extension. The Town Farm was previously offered with the bond but was rejected. directors note voter preference in the Bennington Graded School District to the Soldiers Home site as a key factor to secure a favorable bond vote.
