McClory May Back Nixon Impeachment On Powers Abuse
Rep. Robert McClory the second ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee said he would vote to impeach President Nixon for abuse of constitutional powers. The committee reconvened hearings on a second impeachment article detailing misuses of IRS federal agencies a secret spy unit and other acts. A vote could come by day’s end with debate focused on each count and McClory’s support sought by Democrats.
