New Hampshire Mental Health Study Reveals Gaps in Treatment
A UPI report from Concord details a statewide mental health study showing over a quarter of NH adults with impairment and 8.7 percent almost definitely ill, yet only about one in six receive treatment. The findings, prepared by Dr. Brian Kay’s team, outline regional disparities and a plan to push for nearly $500,000 in construction funds for regional centers. The study, based on 600 interviews by NORC, highlights higher impairment among women and ages 50 to 59, and notes treatment access is strongest in the Merrimack Valley region and where Mary Hitchcock Hospital facilities exist, with northern counties lagging.
