OAS votes to end Cuban isolation push favored
The Organization of American States tentatively backs a freedom of action resolution to bypass its 11 year old Cuba sanctions. Fourteen nations including the United States pledge to vote in favor, while Chile Uruguay and Paraguay likely oppose and others may abstain. The plan allows each nation to decide its own relations with Cuba, without lifting the 1964 embargo. The OAS also updates the 1947 mutual defense pact to endorse ideological pluralism.
