Supreme Court orders Nixon to surrender watergate tapes
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that President Nixon must hand over subpoenaed Watergate tapes and records for use in the trial of six former White House aides and potentially in his impeachment case. Chief Justice Burger said the need for evidence outweighs presidential privilege and directed tapes be supplied to Judge Sirica for relevance in the September trial.
