140 Day Spacecraft Set For Venus Flyby Launch
Atlas Agena B rocket to lift Mariner 1 from Cape Canaveral for a 140 day voyage to Venus. The 446 pound craft will pass within 10 000 miles of Venus for 30 minutes on December 8 to study clouds and environment. Data will be sent to Earth for analysis on magnetic fields radiation and space conditions aiding future missions.
