Shaftsbury tax-stabilization contract details with Eagle Square
Shaftsbury in Bennington County approved a tax stabilization contract with Eagle Square Manufacturing, part of Stanley Tools, to hold current appraised value through 1974 and raise to 1,631,000 by 1981. The plan doubles plant size but includes a renegotiation clause if reappraisal lowers revenue, a tactic echoed by Brattleboro officials considering similar agreements.
