Tax Exempt Gain Rule Under New Tax Law Explained
Breard H Hawks of the Vermont Association of Realtor Boards explains Section 121 allows a tax exempt gain for 65 plus sellers of his home when adjusted sales price is 20000 or less. Adjusted price equals sale price minus broker commissions and qualifying repairs within 90 days and paid within 30 days of sale. If price is 30000 and gain 12000, tax exempt portion is 8000.
