Two Weeks of Sun and Fun at Camp Ondawa
The 40th season of 4 H camping in Bennington County began at Camp Ondawa in Sunderland with two two week sessions. A younger group of 83 children attends the first week while older than 12 join the second. The camp, formed as the Camp Ondawa Association in 1932, has grown through the years, survived a 1939 fire, and now features a new swimming pond funded by the Bennington County Soil Conservation District. James A Edgerton oversees the program with Mrs Edward Houghton as cook and Doris Mason assisting. The aim centers on citizenship improvement through organized recreation, skits, and campfire activities supervised by nine senior counselors and seven in training.
