Weather outlook for the weekend heat and humidity

New EDA figures favor Bennington with 1.722 million

Bennington will receive 1.722 million in EDA public works funds while Shaftsbury gets nothing under revised targets. Sunderland drops from 950000 to 196000 and Arlington falls to 132000. The towns face anger as EDA’s criteria shifted away from requests, with Bennington’s possible projects including water system upgrades, a filtration plant, and senior housing.

Schmidt flies to Iceland after talks with Carter

West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt flew to Iceland ending a visit in which he and President Carter pledged closer consultations on major issues. A 19 gun salute rang out as Schmidt departed Washington then he traveled by Marine helicopter to Andrews Air Force Base and boarded his jet. The two days of talks stressed the closeness of their consultations.

Shopping centers draw Hoosick Falls growth plans
