East West road plan hits Champlain hurdle in study
The Lake Champlain Bridge Commission reviewed a feasibility study showing a northern New York Vermont route for the East West highway would not be feasible. Three alternatives were suggested along U S 2 4 or Vermont 9. The commission favored a northern Tier alignment to spur economic development while noting financial limits on a lake crossing. Noel Brunnell called for drastic changes and others warned the preview was disappointing.
