Paper Firm Announces Stratton Mountain Development Plans
International Paper Co and its American Central unit announced a recreation development near Stratton Mountain Vermont after a closed door meeting with IPC President Edward Hinman Gow and state officials. They will work with planners submit full plans to Walter Blucher and consider proposals before proceeding on the 1 200 acre site and may expand if successful. The governor and executives stressed plans are not yet finalized and no firm commitments will be made until advisory input is received.

Army schedules open air tests of nerve gases in three states
Rep. Henry Reuss said the Army warned him it scheduled and may have conducted open air tests of nerve gases in Maryland Alabama and Utah. Tests planned at Edgewood Arsenal near Baltimore Fort McClellan Alabama and Dugway Proving Ground Utah involved VX and other gases by artillery shells ground fixtures mines and bomblets from March through September.

U S Pilot Released By Soviet Officials
Lt Col George Patterson of Georgia and his West German co pilot Dr Karl Sichelstiel were released by Soviet authorities after a storm forced their light aircraft to land near Batumi on the Black Sea. They were part of a mass flight over Turkey when the incident occurred and faced charges of violating Soviet air space. The U S embassy said both were told they could leave immediately and did so, landing in Trabzon, Turkey.
