States in Stagnation 3 Reform Program Listed
A bipartisan group of economists from the Committee for Economic Development urges state governments to shrink legislatures, rewrite constitutions, and raise elected official pay. Recommendations include governors earning at least $30,000 annually, caps on legislature size, annual sessions, four year terms, statewide unified courts, and appointed judges. The plan also favors a Connecticut style challenge primary to balance direct and convention methods.

Swans and hens in Cygnus star lore across cultures
Astronomy notes trace Cygnus meaning swan to Latin roots while Arab tradition sees the constellation as a hen. Deneb, the brightest star, is linked to “the tail” in Latin or “the hen tail” in Arabic. The piece suggests ancient observers diverged in star pictures and that swans may have been Latin knowledge not shared by Arabs.
