U S proposes reopening Suez Canal with five month pause
Arab sources report that the United States offered Egypt new plans to reopen the Suez Canal and asked for a five month breathing space to reach a compromise. In Cairo meetings this week diplomats Donald Bergus and Michael Sterner presented the proposals to Hafez Ismail, the foreign affairs official.
