Bennington Brattleboro to gain state offices. $3.2M EDA grant approved
Vermont lawmakers back Gov Snelling plan to consolidate state offices in Bennington and Brattleboro, approving a $3.2 million federal grant and a $22,000 option purchase for building sites. Two committees voiced haste concerns as a July 15 deadline looms to apply for roughly $2.2 million in federal aid. A state delegation will meet Bennington officials to scout sites, with a 5 acre parcel across Route 67A eyed as a potential location.

Carter aides propose 30 percent cut in White House
Carter aides urge restructuring of the White House and 17 Executive Office agencies with a 30 percent staff cut by September 30. A new domestic policy staff would mimic the National Security Council, overseen by Stuart Eizenstat, with lead agencies for reviews and interagency committees. The Domestic Council would be abolished and most staff kept in the Executive Office.
