At a June Washington meeting with representatives from the US Animal Health Association and the Livestock Conservation Institute, the panel called for quarantines in New England, a ban on hog cholera vaccines, and a review of garbage feeding to swine. They pressed for resources to finish the state-federal eradication program begun in 1962, noting recent outbreaks in Massachusetts New Hampshire and Rhode Island and warning illegal vaccines could delay eradication and threaten export markets including pork exports to Great Britain and other destinations.
