Paran Art Program Opens in Lake Paran Area
A free四summer art program for children in the Bennington and Shaftsbury area begins Monday at Lake Paran. Daily sessions run 10:30 a.m. to noon for four weeks at the lake shore shelter, with paints, clay, and other materials. Organized by the Lake Paran Education Committee led by Dr. Dorothy Hager, it invites parental volunteers through Bennington College and seeks donations of art supplies and recyclables from local industries.

Arlington Gift Shop Opens In Former Catholic Church
Arlington church doors opened this week as a gift shop replacing pews with merchandise and Gothic windows lighting glassware. Proprietors George Van Gemert and Malcolm Sprague, longtime Arlington residents, converted the 94 year old St Columban’s Church purchased in May into a shop offering Vermont crafts, European home goods, and reproductions with no real antiques. The setup keeps a charity box for local benefits.
