Patriots Parade Draws 200 at Memorial Park
About 200 youngsters from playgrounds and Camp Y Woods walked and biked to Memorial Park for the Patriots Parade honoring Independence Day. Participants wore patriotic costumes and rode decorated bikes along Main Street. prizes were awarded for best entries. A later photo shows Mary Beth Thompson, Carol Lauzon, and Billy Thompson paving a patriotic finale with Betsy Ross, flag sewing, and the lamp of liberty.

Bank Robbery Near Canadian Border Nets About 50000
Four French speaking gunmen robbed a Fort Covington bank two miles from the Canadian border. They forced four customers to the floor while three raiders looted the vault and tellers cages, fleeing in a tan 1968 Mercury with a small blue bag. Police blocked routes, and a box from the bank containing food stamps was found empty along Mary Riley Road. A clerk saw the getaway car speed off on two wheels.
