Labor Bill Faces Support and Opposition in Vermont

Opponents led by James Mereness of Associated Industries argued the bill lacks funding and would upset relations between employers and employees. Other supporters cited economic benefits and worker empowerment, while critics urged protecting employers’ rights. Teachers and state workers offered amendments to exclude them from coverage.
