Tuition Hike Warned If State Aid Falls Short
Vermont State Colleges faces a possible $150 annual tuition rise for residents and nonresidents if only $3.4 million in state aid is allocated for fiscal 1970. Provost Dr. Robert S. Babcock told trustees that options include higher tuition, freezing teaching salaries, or enrollment limits. He favors a tuition increase as least painful and notes capital funds and a computer program at Vermont Technical College may be delayed. The board took no action, asking for budget review to cut costs without harming operations.
