Buckley Tax Plan Challenged by Mallory
In Montpelier the 1969 legislative session debates sales tax alternatives with Gov Davis favoring a generous rebate for the poor while Sen Buckley proposes a $2,500 personal income exemption to reduce withholding. Sen Mallary argues the plan may not aid large families and would force rewriting Vermont income tax law. Also noted is Red Cross aid appeal for the Lewis family after a Thursday fire, and Dr Durand’s brief absence with office hours unchanged.
