Early Spring Hopes Dashed by Snow in East Dorset
In East Dorset Herbert Bell moved to begin mowing a cleared meadow but a weekend snow dump covered the area with about a foot of unmowable snow. Bell arranged with Harold Hoard to mow under the snow, finishing in a few hours. He planned to burn the brush and grass, crediting Hoard’s mowing skill for rare success. The Banner notes a photo opportunity was missed by Mrs Hoard.
