Tresh Signs Today as Yankees Reach New Deal
Yankees outfielder Tom Tresh signed his 1967 contract, becoming the first Yankee to do so. In a warm Mount Pleasant interview via two way line, he said the club could win the pennant if young players perform, and noted pitching looks solid though hitting may be the bigger question. He defended the trade of Roger Maris and admitted surprise at Clete Boyer’s move. Tresh indicated no raise beyond last year’s roughly $32,000 and rejected claims of a cut.
