Massive Battle Rages at Khe Sanh DMZ Front

UPI reports a combined force of government militia regional troops and American advisors crushed a North Vietnamese battalion near Khe Sanh after two days of fighting. Air power and naval bombardment joined the effort as casualties rose with 750 North Vietnamese killed overall. US casualties included 28 dead and 211 wounded, while South Vietnamese losses were about 40 killed and 150 wounded. Civilians evacuated as Marines reinforced the siege line stretching from Khe Sanh to Gio Linh.
