Revolution In China Analyzed By Vermont Professor

University of Vermont political science professor Dr George T Little analyzes Chinas Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution calling it a classic example of Chinese politics. He notes emperors burned books and orthodoxy guides thought and behavior. His colleague, economist Lubonir A Dellin, says the purge has no exact parallel in other Communist states. He suggests a secondary link to the Sino Soviet split and the international Communist front. Little views Maoist rhetoric as a long running Chinese pattern, with violence and denunciations as political tools and the Thought of Mao as a guiding creed, while noting a possible leadership struggle between Mao and Liu Shao chips successor. Little taught in Taipei in 1956 57 and remains active in Asian studies.
