Bennington YMCA marks National Week with plans for growth
National YMCA Week highlights the Bennington area YMCA founded in 1858 with continuous activity since 1889. The organization operates a main brick building at Main and School Streets and a summer swimming pool on Lovers Lane, offering programs from Hi Y to sports clubs and physical fitness. Future plans include expanded club facilities and outreach to other area towns with a new building and staff expansion. General Secretary Leonard J. Black will speak at Shaftsbury Methodist Church.
