Hamilton Shields, outgoing president of the Bennington County Industrial Commission, said Exeter International Corp. will continue to operate Ben Mont Papers Inc. through 1969. BCIC owns all Ben Mont stock and has contracted its operation to Exeter since March while seeking a buyer. no purchase found due to losses. BCIC has worked with the Vermont Industrial Building Authority to keep jobs and hopes Ben Mont gains footing by year end. The meeting also noted $10,000 spent on ground clearing for the industrial park and a 30,000 square foot speculative building planned for spring. New BCIC officers were elected: Norman Greenberg president, Peter Donavan Jr. vice president, Armand A. Lampron treasurer, and Clement GilLee.

President Johnson told Congress that the Soviet Union now launches more spacecraft than the United States and could surpass the U.S. The annual space report praised Apollo 8 for boosting U.S. prestige while deferring major new programs to President-elect Nixon.
