Treasury to Hold Hearings on New Equipment Depreciation Rule

President Nixon announced policy changes promising up to $4 billion in 1976, with the main policy final. Undersecretary Charles E. Walker said regulations will be lengthy but will not alter the policy. If businesses buy equipment now, they can expect faster writeoffs. A Nader associate has sued, claiming hearings were required by law, but Walker said current law permits action without public consultation.
