Jeffords seeks Supreme Court review to block automatic pay raises
Vermont Republican Rep. James Jeffords says he will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court after a three-judge panel ruled against a suit with Rep. Larry Pressler seeking to force Congress to vote on its own pay raises. The plan would affect automatic increases up to 57,500 dollars, not current pay levels. Jeffords emphasizes restoring public confidence and rejects back-door raises while noting the challenge targets procedural, not salary amounts.
