Audubon Sues Protectors of Whooping Cranes in Texas
The National Audubon Society files in Corpus Christi federal court to halt shell dredging in San Antonio Bay area reefs and estuaries. It aims to stop operations by Texas Parks and Wildlife and five dredging firms, arguing the activity endangers the last wintering habitat for whooping cranes and violates laws and treaties. The suit seeks a permanent injunction against dredging in San Antonio, Hynes, Guadalupe, Ayers, Mesquite and Carlos Bays.
