IRA May Seek Talks Toward Indefinite Truce in Northern Ireland
The Sinn Fein says it will help broker talks with Britain to extend the holiday season cease-fire with the Provisional IRA leader Seamus Loughran says the group can act as messenger between government and the IRA. Britain had not yet reacted to the peace proposal amid 1143 deaths since 1969. The truce, entering its 15th day, could end on Jan 16. The IRA would likely demand troops stay in barracks in Catholic areas.
