The Governor's Highway Safety Program launches a statewide public information drive with music driven messages aimed at drivers aged 16 to 25 to cut deaths and injuries on Vermont highways. Last year saw fatalities up 18 percent with alcohol involved in 47 percent of deaths and Interstate deaths well above the national average.
In a University of Vermont mechanical engineering class, 33 sophomores formed mock firms to solve real problems from safer playground toys to a safer car jack. Teams presented final designs using pitches, slides, and models to faculty and outside experts, led by Professors Berry and Carpenter.
