Putnam Deed of Gift court fight continues in Vermont
Bennington selectmen push to have the Putnam Deed of Gift interpreted by courts as the Putnam Hospital faces a declaratory judgment. An injunction since April bars the hospital from charging destitute county residents or the towns for care while it relies on endowment income for operations. The suit, joined by nearby towns, questions whether endowment funds should cover obligations to the destitute and fund needed capital improvements.
