Bennington Unification Moves Forward In Local Government
Ten months after voters approved the 1966 Unification Act the towns and village of Bennington begin shared services. The Village Water Board becomes the town water board. police become Town Police Department with same chief. six trustees remain in a larger board. a new town manager oversees 56 staff. Police study expected mid January to guide staffing. a new salary plan tops patrol pay at 120 dollars weekly. Winter Storm Slams Northeast With Heavy Snowfall
