Bennington Town Meeting Sees Eight Articles on Agenda

Bennington residents gather at Bennington Elementary School for the first part of the town meeting to decide eight articles. The session plans to set the 1966 general fund and highway tax rates, with a general fund budget of 317,950 including library spending of 29,500. The general fund tax rate is estimated at 1.80, down from 1.95 last year, aided by a projected rise in the Grand List from 13.8 to 17.5 million. Two floor-article items include leasing the former Girls Club building to the Greater Bennington Association and selecting an auditor from the state for a town books audit. Voting Tuesday will be light with two polling places and hours 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Helicopter Strike Traps 400 Viet Cong on Peninsula

British Election Expected to Be Announced Tonight

Area Legislators Questioned On Reconsideration of Housing Bill

Death Ends Reinstatement Battle of Dr. Woodard

New York reports the death of Dr. Richard H. Woodard at 41 after a four year fight to regain reinstatement to Porter Hospital in Middlebury Vermont. The Vermont Supreme Court had ordered a court hearing instead of a hospital board review, and Woodard had been dismissed for failing to follow medical staff rules with privileges cut from Class B to Class C. His widow and four children survive.
