The Senate approved a historic eleven and a half billion dollar tax cut hours before President Johnson signs. The plan lowers taxes for about 80 million individuals by an average 19 percent and for 550,000 corporate taxpayers by about 9 percent with checks reflecting the change from March 4.
The Contour Design Union board and architect unveiled a new two to three story elongated design for a proposed Town Farm site union school. The plan abandons the previous square block layout and shifts to a layout following the hill slope with daylighting via a skylight for the central library, sparking concerns over rock removal and ledge.
Vermont House debates a 2.5 million education aid bill as sponsor Rep. W Arthur Simpson argues it would raise educational quality provide equal opportunity and reduce local property tax burden. he warns smaller towns could be penalized if funding falls short.
