Bennington Village trustees set the 1966 tax rate at 3.40 on the grand list, down from 3.80 last year, after approving a tentative budget. Town listers Hogan Betit and Toomey provided a minimal grand list estimate of 102,262.50, up from 81,077.10 in 1965, due to new construction and increased assessment.
The Vermont Senate gave final passage to a measure for Vermont's participation in Montreal Expo 67. It appropriates 400000 dollars for a pavilion's construction and operation at the world exhibition, sending the bill to Gov. Hoff for signature amid Maine's similar pavilion approval.
