Accidents and Fire Report Harsh Winter Damage In Bennington
A van driven by Durward R Kingsbury 32 of West Chesterfield was badly damaged when it left Route 30 at Bondville and struck a power pole. Police say he was uninjured. Earlier, Lisa Tate 35 of Bennington College escaped injury when her 1963 VW left Silk Road and hit a mailbox owned by Arthur Robinson. Fire at a bungalow built by Hurley with his four children away at a relative caused interior damage estimated 8000 to 10000 dollars. Firemen contained the blaze with Pownal aid as subzero temperatures hampered efforts. Hurley reported all furniture and clothing destroyed. The exterior structure was saved and Hurley plans to rebuild.
