Hoosick supervisor proposes town zoning and aging center aid

Town of Hoosick Supervisor Robert K. Shiland and the board studied proposals including a town zoning plan to require building permits and place property on the assessment rolls. He urged forming a five to six member zoning commission, reactivating the planning board, and upgrading assessments. Shiland also pressed help for a new Senior Center, noting funding needs and possible town role, while discussing lighting district consolidation and the reopening of Fog Hill Road. He warned against rushing the Reynolds-Gilchrest project, citing required engineering oversight to protect federal grant funds, and remarked on village-town tensions over delays and contracts. Leonard attended briefly, then left the meeting.
