Grant's Ordered to Liquidate Assets and Close Stores

In New York, UPI reports Federal Bankruptcy Court Judge John Galgay ordered W. T. Grant Co to liquidate its assets and wind down operations within 60 days. Grant's assets total 512 million with debts of 1.1 billion. the 70 year old chain sought Chapter 11 to reorganize after proceedings since last October.

Safety study urged for Vermont Yankee reactor in Vernon

Environmentalists and officials of Vermont Yankee urged creation of a six member legislative panel to study safety and economic impact of resuming operation at Vernon. Sal Mineo Actor Slain Outside Sunset Strip Home

Hollywood reporter says Sal Mineo 37 actor known for Rebel Without a Cause and Exodus was stabbed to death Thursday night outside his apartment below the Sunset Strip. Deputies said witnesses saw a long haired man flee the area as homicide detectives questioned neighbors and reviewed the scene. Mineo rose from Broadway teen roles to film fame and was slated for a play debut following rehearsal.
