Burlington officials vote to spend 4000 dollars for a study by the International Association of Police of a troubled department rocked by a burglary scandal. Chief George A. McKenzie aims to start before April 1 as Mayor Robert Bing pushes the funding after a prior IACP survey. Five patrolmen were arrested in December and January on burglary charges with varied pleas and trials.
The United States and Britain agree on the need for atmospheric nuclear tests but differ on timing and approach. Kennedy wants an independent decision, while Macmillan hopes talks could postpone further tests if progress occurs. The proposal envisions Geneva talks and pre-summit Western foreign ministers.

Board had proposed cutting increments by 50 percent to offset fire safety equipment costs. full increases set at seven percent for over 11 years, six percent for six to ten years, and five percent for one to five years, totaling $2,690.
