Old Bennington trustees pushed a amended zoning ordinance and village master plan into effect on Feb 12 after a Jan 22 adoption following hearings. The VR1 and VR2 districts govern residential uses, museum protections, sign rules, home occupations, and limits on fences and vehicles, with St Joseph College property in VR2. The development plan foresees growth to 430 by 1980 and 450 by 2000, shaping restrictions to preserve historic character and limiting new construction to single family homes plus no new commercial ventures. a design control ordinance is planned next by the planning commission.
