Transcript hints Hughes autibiography may trace to 1954
Newsweek reported that a marginally corrected transcript in Howard Hughes handwriting, used by Clifford Irving to back an autobiographical claim, might date to 1954. Stephen White of Look magazine recalled Hughes interviews then, but believed related material was burned. Irving and Edith were due before a federal grand jury amid a probe into mail fraud and the McGraw-Hill payment of 650000 dollars.
