Village police and highway workers get raise

Bennington village trustees approved a 10 percent pay hike for patrolmen and highway department workers retroactive to January. Highway workers moved from 2.08 to about 2.28 dollars per hour, patrolmen from 91 to 99.10 weekly. Superintendent salaries rose to 150 and 125 dollars weekly for the chief and assistant. The board delayed action on police chief raises pending a police committee report.

Hoff Names Morrissey District Judge in Bennington Rutland

Gov. Philip H. Hoff named John P. Morrissey of Bennington to the Senate for confirmation as district court judge in the Bennington Rutland district. Morrissey joins other district court appointments, effective March 1, from a list provided by the judicial selection board.

Defense Dept Identifies Pueblo Casualties
